Service Description

In this class we will practice Yin yoga for the first 60 minutes, which is floor based, passive rather than active, slow rather than energetic, deeply meditative and restorative. Yin yoga targets the fascia, tendons, ligaments, bones, circulatory system, lymphatic system, the energetic system, right down to the cells themselves. Fascia is a connective tissue that surrounds and supports every structure in the body, playing a crucial role in movement, stability, and overall health. Yin Yoga postures are held for longer periods of time, placing an appropriate stress on the tissues, lengthening, hydrating and strengthening them. This helps to increase range of mobility, especially in the joints, flexibility, circulation and the flow of energy. Yin yoga can also be very effective in helping to heal injury or scar tissue. in the last 30 minutes of class, we will either move through a few Yang yoga postures which will be a little more active, some standing, but in a gentle and mindful way, or we will practice Yoga Nidra, otherwise known as yogic sleep, a practice that aims to induce complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation. We need both yin and yang to create balance. Ideally we should be practicing both yin and yang yoga to look after all the energies and tissues. Too much yang and we can become unbalanced and too much yin can create disharmony and dis-ease too.
